Artificial Intelligence is increasingly shaping the way we socialise, work and engage with society. However, as AI is being used by citizens every day and embedded in our schools and hospitals, its power remains unchecked and largely unregulated. AI has also been used in our courts, our army, our police, and across central and local government. But AI experts worldwide have raised very real concerns that we could lose control of the tech to devastating effect.
In this 90-minute workshop, run by Pull The Plug, a grassroots AI campaign calling for the democratisation of AI, we explore what AI actually is and many of its darker sides. We will collaboratively consider how it is having real, negative consequences for us all at an unprecedented rate, contributing to environmental decline, dangerous misinformation, wealth inequality and many more social injustices.
This workshop is built to be accessible for all levels of prior engagement on the topic, and standing/walking is optional. We encourage anyone to let us know of particular accessibility needs, as we want to ensure everyone can take part.
